Current Report:

Here are some more pictures of some of the fish we have caught on our last few trips.  Today was awesome we landed over 10 nice steelies and a nice German brown we also missed a few so it was a pretty action packed day. The other picture is of the current conditions in Douglas city as it started snowing around 2 o'clock today and has not let up since they are calling for snow through Monday this wont affect the river unless we get a warm rain following it. The fishing is going great and the fish will keep on coming all the way into March. Thanks Tim

Current Report:

The bite was on today we started out looking at the river today with flashlights looking for green water when we found it we launched the boat. We had our first fish in about 10 minutes and the bite continued all day. We end up hooking 15 fish and we landed 10 of them its time to book your trip if you haven't done so already the fish are here and it is only going to get better from here on out. The river is dropping back in to shape on the lower runs and the upper river is fishing just fine. We are taking a few days off for Christmas we will be back on the river on the 27th I will try to keep you up dated on the conditions this week but I wont have any fishing reports. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is on the rise it is raining hard here on Friday afternoon we will have to see how high it gets tonight before making any predictions. The fish are all stacked up in the lower river and was just coming into prime shape . Hopefully some of the fish will start to move up river where it doesn't blow out as easily in the next few days. Looks like January is going to be a great steelhead time with all the rain we have gotten in the last few weeks. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We found some fish today we went 5 for 7 the biggest about 10lbs. These fish are fresh they were really putting up some good fights and they took some time to land. The weather picture looks good for the rest of the week the fishing will hopefully stay good also. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Wow, Today we had a bad day on the river and did not land a fish. We were fishing the upper river since the lower river is still blown out.  The upper river is in great shape with about 4 feet of visibility and it has been dropping for a day and a half  the water temperature was around 42 this morning . We will see if we can kill the skunk on Wednesday. Thanks Tim King

Date: Friday, December 12, 2003 at 19:00:00
Current Report:

Its has been snowing pretty hard today an they are forecasting for more rain and snow on Saturday. The weather picture looks good for the rest of the week. The fishing remains excellent  as some of the bigger winter fish are starting to arrive. We are now entering in to the prime months for steelhead fishing on the north coast rivers. The fish will be getting bigger and the numbers of fish in the river will be increasing every day. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 20:00:00
Current Report:

The rivers levels have all dropped down from the storm that past through over the weekend. The forecast is calling for more rain this week we can use it this helps to bring the fish in from the ocean to start there runs up the river. The Trinity is in good shape and is giving up a few fish from reports of some of the anglers I have talked to we will be fishing again tomorrow and I will have a report then. The Mad river has had a good bunch of steelhead moving through in the higher flows it should be really good if it clears a little. The Klamath is back in shape below the Scott and is giving up a few steelhead also. Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 19:53:00
Current Report:

I was wrong the Trinity did get enough rain to blow out the upper sections all the way up to Lewiston. The Mad and the Eel are out also I am sure the Scott river on the Klamath is running muddy so it is probably not fishable below there. The Smith is dropping and may fish ok tomorrow if some new fish have moved up. The Trinity probably wont fish good till Tuesday on the upper sections and will take a few more days to clear down below. Thanks Tim

Date: Friday, December 5, 2003 at 18:53:00
Current Report:

The rivers are on the rise. The Smith the Eel , and the Mad are all open catching fish in them is another story. We did not fish today so I have no fishing report we were out working on some of the boat ramps that have become over grown with trees. The good news is that by next year the first paved ramp will be in place with more scheduled to follow. The Trinity is rising also but there will not be enough rain to hurt the river above the North fork steelhead can sometimes be hard to catch on a rising river. The lower river will be blown out from the south fork in will take s few days after the rain stops for it to be come fishable probably Wednesday. We will have a report for you tomorrow . Thanks Tim

Date: Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 19:25:00
Current Report:

The fishing is still good on the Trinity the rains have subsided for now but more is forecast for Thursday and for Saturday we will have to wait and see how much rain we get . The lower river is back in shape below the south fork it has a nice color of green to it. The Smith is still dropping and is not fishing very well. The lower Klamath is out and dirty but the upper river is doing ok. The winter run of steelhead should start to show at any time now and the fishing will be good in to March. Thanks Tim King

Date: Monday, December 1, 2003 at 18:23:00
Current Report:

It has been raining pretty hard on the Trinity and the north coast the last few days. The Trinity is still rising and so is the Eel the Smith is dropping . The south fork of the Trinity is pretty muddy blowing out the lower river it should be back in by Thursday as no  heavy rain is in the forecast. The upper river above the south fork is in great shape with just a little color added the steelhead fishing should improve as soon as the river starts to drop. We have been fly fishing the last few days on the last trip out we landed 3 nice fish the conditions were pretty bad it was raining on us all day and the river was rising making for tough fishing conditions. The  winter fish should start to show up at any time this is the first significant rise in the river level this year. Thanks Tim King

Date: Sunday, November 30, 2003 at 16:12:00
Current Report:

The fishing the last few days has been ok we have been fishing in the Douglas city area on the Trinity river. Trevor landed his first steelhead and it was a good one we landed it pulling plugs his dad also landed a few. We have been doing a few fly fishing trips too today we landed 3 and lost a couple of other ones that we had on. The hot fly pattern was the pink chappie or golden stone  with a egg dropper fished on a 6 weight or 8 weight rod. The weather forecast is calling for rain on Saturday and showers every day for the week this is great news the river has been low and clear and this will help stir things up if we get some significant precipitation out of this storm the fishing will get better. The Smith and the Eel are open and this next rain storm should insure that they stay that way and help to bring in some badly needed fresh fish. Thanks Tim King

Date: Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 20:05:00
Current Report:

We have been fishing on the Trinity the last 2 days saw two completely different results. We fished the lower river on Saturday and had a really good day landing some really nice steelhead to about 12 lbs (you can see a picture off it on my front page) we were using bait and plugs. On Sunday we fished the upper river around Lewiston on a fly fishing trip and we hooked 3 fish but did not land any. The weather remains really cold and the forecast is not calling for any good amount of precipitation in the next week. The fishing on the Smith has slowed with more rain needed to get things going. We will be fishing down below on the Trinity for the next few days. Thanks Tim King

Date: Friday, November 21, 2003 at 13:15:00
Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity has been a little tough the last few days we are still catching a few fish  but the bite seems to have turned off a little bit. We have had a lot of boat traffic this last week and  the weather has turned bitterly cold at night the temperature has been around 20 degrees this is probable the cause of the slow bite. The weather picture is pretty clear with rain forecast next week hopefully this will get things back on track. The Smith is open with a few salmon being caught on the lower drifts and the main stem of the Eel is open up to the south fork the salmon fishing there has been pretty hot for the few people that are fishing it. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 17:52:00
Current Report:

We had a pretty decent day today we landed 4 nice adults lost a few others and a few big half pounders on the Trinity river. We did not get a picture of the big fish of the day it jumped out of Ted's hands before the camera went off it was around 12 lbs. The Eel main stem is open up to the confluence with the south fork reports are that a lot of salmon are being caught and released look for the fish to be in the deeper holes around Holmes and Rio Dell . The Smith is open and guides are doing good for salmon on the lower drifts be sure to check all the regulations before heading out to fish. The north coast weather forecast is for rain this week it should keep things going good . Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 13:04:00
Current Report:

The low flow closures have been lifted on the Eel and the Smith through Monday the 17th.It has been raining all night on Friday in Douglas city and it rained a little bit today as we fished. The forecast is calling for clear weather all week. The Trinity is up a little bit on the lower river the south fork is putting in a little more water. The fishing is still improving we ended up landing 3 adults and a ton of half pounders  the flows are making it easier to side drift and the flats are starting to hold more fish the fishing should really turn on soon. The number to call for the low flow closures is 707-442-4502. Thanks Tim King

Date: Friday, November 15, 2003 at 18:51:00
Current Report:

The fishing is showing signs of improving on the Trinity river for steelhead. We landed 5 today and lost a few others the biggest problem are the number of fisherman on some of the drifts we are going to get away from the crowds tomorrow and I will let you know if our numbers pick up. It has been raining most of the day and they are calling for more all weekend. The fishing over on the Klamath river for steelhead remains good. They need to get more rain on the Smith river to get the salmon moving out of the estuary. Thanks Tim King

Date: Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 13:24:00
Current Report:

We went 5 for 7 today for steelhead today and one jack salmon. We caught  a few on plugs and some on bait and a few on bugs. The fishing continues to be ok some days are good and the fish are biting and other days we get a few. We have been fishing all over the river from Lewiston to weitchepeck and the results are about the same. There seems to be more half pounders in the lower river and the fish are brighter when we land the adults. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 13:24:00
Current Report:

We have been fishing on the lower river and the Trinity is not on fire but the fishing is pretty good we are still getting a few adults and a ton of half pounders every day. The forecast is calling for good weather all week and the rivers have all receded from the rain that we got over the weekend. Thanks Tim King

Date: Sunday, November 9, 2003 at 13:24:00
Current Report:

Steelhead fishing has been ok we have been fishing the lower river below Willow creek. It has been raining really hard for the last few days it rained all day on us on Saturday and my digital pictures did not come out of the fish that we caught. We ended up with two adult fish and a ton of half pounders. The smaller half pounder action has been improving this is another good sign that the steelhead are starting there run up the Trinity. The rain has been enough to cause most of the north coast river s to rise the Smith has doubled it flows in the last 24 hours this will get some of the salmon moving up river. The Trinity also has risen a few feet along with the Klamath as all this fresh water is pushed in to the ocean we could really see steelhead fishing start to take off in the weeks ahead. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at 17:00:00
Current Report:

It is starting to look like winter has arrived our first storm was a cold one with snow down to around 2000 feet most of it has melted now. More rain is forecast for Thursday. With the rain comes better steelhead fishing  in the last 2 days we have landed 9 adult steelhead and a few half pounders I would say things are starting to pick up. We are going to fish the upper river tomorrow and see how many steelhead are there. Thanks Tim King

Date: Sunday, October 26, 2003 at 17:24:00
Current Report:

Here are two pictures of salmon caught on the Trinity river the nice fish is from the lower river by willow creek the other one is from the Douglas city area these fish were caught  with in 3 days of each other .Make sure your guide is able to take you to where the best fishing is available at the time of your trip. The steelhead fishing is in need of some rain to really kick things off. there are a few fish around if you just cant wait . We have been fishing almost every day since the middle of August we are taking a few days off then we will start back in on steelhead  on the Trinity Klamath Eel and occasionally the Smith. Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 15:09:00
Current Report:

We fished the upper Trinity on Thursday and landed 5  steelhead to about 8 pounds there are a ton of salmon spawning in the upper sections above the North fork and the steelhead are laying behind the reds. We caught all of our fish on natural colored roe. We have not fished the lower river since Wednesday so I am not going to speculate on the fishing down there. The salmon that are being caught above De loma are pretty ugly but good for the smoker. We have one more trip on Sunday and then I am going to take a few days off to get caught up on some projects before the rains come. Look for the steelhead action to start real soon on the Trinity and the salmon fishing on the smith will soon break wide open. Thanks Tim King

Date: Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 18:55:00
Current Report:

The fishing on the lower Trinity for salmon has been pretty tough the last two days. We landed 5 salmon in 2 days of fishing and they were all darker fish . The steelhead fishing seems to have dropped off to we didn't land any adults in the last two days just a bunch of half ponders. There are a bunch of silver salmon moving up the Trinity right now they just don’t bite anything and tend to spook the other fish around them they will be moving up river soon. We are going to fish one of the upper drifts tomorrow and see how the steelhead fishing is up above. Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 18:10:00
Current Report:

We have been fishing the lower Trinity river the fish that we are getting are in pretty good shape. We have been targeting mostly steelhead but we are picking up a few salmon in the deeper holes. The fishing has been pretty good but not great  yesterday the water had a little color to it and today it was back to gin clear and the fish were a little spooky. We have the results of the salmon tournament tomorrow for the pound of gold. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 20:10:00
Current Report:

Here is the big picture on the Trinity. The upper river above the north fork is loaded with dark salmon fun to catch but not great to eat There also are a few steelhead starting to show up above Junction city . We fished the lower river today near Hoopa with Steve Peterson another guide ( what do guides do on there day off )  we decided to target some salmon in the morning then switch to steelhead. The salmon that we caught were not chromers but they were in better shape than the fish up river plus they fought really hard they were not as wore out as the up river fish. When we switched to steelhead the fun really started as we both like to catch steelies on light tackle. We landed 4 adults a  few half pounders and a few smolts we saw big pods of steelies moving up river in the middle of the day they are heading up river fast. The Trinity river salmon tournament is this weekend should be pretty crowded in the Junction City to Del loma area also they are lowering the river to 300 cfs on the 15th. Looks like salmon fishing is starting to wind down and we will be targeting more steelhead we always catch a few silver salmon during late October and November these all have to be released. I will try and keep you posted on where the best places to fish are . Thanks Tim King

Date: Monday, October 13, 2003 at 18:30:00
Current Report:

Here is the low down on the upper Trinity  We fished Sunday and landed 6  for about a half a day. Today we landed 6 also but lost a ton of others they just were not hammering the bait to plugs. The upper river is loaded with fish but most of them are dark fish better for the smoker or barbecue than table fair. We can land lots of fish just no bright ones they still fight hard and are a blast to catch. Steelheading is pretty slow there just not here in sufficient numbers  you can catch a few if you target them all day but don’t expect a banner day till the rains come. We are going to fish down river tomorrow with some friends and see if we can find some fresh steelies and salmon I will let you know how we do. Thanks Tim King

Date: Sunday, October 12, 2003 at 19:30:00
Current Report:

We finished up on the Klamath on Saturday we had a great season.  We landed 8 salmon and 2 steelhead . We are switching back to my drift boat we will start fishing the Trinity on Sunday looks like the fishing is going pretty good. Steve Peterson has been out in his boat in the junction city area and they did pretty good. The flows at the dam are 450 cfs they are going to drop them to 300 cfs on October 15th this is when the river gets thin above the north fork till the rains come. Look for the steelhead action to start to heat up soon.

Date: Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 19:00:00
Current Report:

The fishing has picked back up on the lower Klamath river a fresh run of fish has shown up. We landed over 15 fish for 3 anglers today and all the other boats were doing well also. There were some big fish caught also up to 35 lbs that we had to release  there are also a bunch of steelhead showing we released a nice wild one about 10 lbs. The fishing on the Trinity and upper Klamath should be good  as all these fish make there way up river. Thanks Tim King

Date: Monday, October 6, 2003 at 19:15:00
Current Report:

The fishing has slowed way down on the lower Klamath river we have been catching between 5 and 10 salmon per trip. There still remains the possibility of more fish moving in at any time I will  let you know if things improve or get worse here. The Trinity is in high gear with fish being caught from Lewiston down to Hoopa  we had a boat out yesterday in the Junction city area and they did really well. Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 19:05:00
Current Report:

The fishing are still coming up the Klamath river we have had pretty consistent fishing for the last few days. We are still boating a lot of fish and some really nice chromers fresh from the ocean we are also catching a few silvers and steelhead mixed in. The action over on the Trinity is really good we will be fishing there starting October 13th we will be here on the Klamath trough the 12th.Thanks Tim King

Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 18:35:00
Current Report:

We said the fish would get bigger at the end of September and into October and the big ones are starting to arrive on the lower Klamath river look for some 50 lbs fish in the next 2 weeks. The silvers or Coho are starting to arrive these must be released but they are a ball to fight like a big steelhead. We are still picking up a few steelies when fishing for the salmon. The action over on the Trinity remains hot for salmon and steelhead now is the time for your fall salmon and the early steelhead that are headed up the Klamath and Trinity .
Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 19:35:00
Current Report:

The fishing on the Klamath is still in high gear we are catching a ton of fish we will be here through October11th in our Jet boat. The fishing on the Trinity has shifted to high gear with the fish pouring in from the Klamath. The lower Trinity around Hoopa and Willow creek will be the place to fish for the brightest fish the upper runs are holding fish too. The upper Klamath is kicking out good numbers of salmon if you need some for the smoker. The Klamath and Trinity also have pretty good numbers of steelhead in them look for more to be coming in the end of October through March . Thanks Tim King

Date: Monday, September 29, 2003 at 19:21:00
Current Report:

The fishing continues to be good on the lower Klamath river there are still a lot of fresh fish moving in. We boated over 15 today for 3 anglers from Dun Rite excavating  and we quit a little early for there drive home. The pressure is very low on the river with not to much boat traffic. The fishing continues to improve over on the Trinity look for my reports from there to start soon. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing continues to be hot on the Klamath river over the last few days. We had a group of 11 people out and everybody caught a bunch of fish I still think the girls in my boat won the bet I think the guys stuffed some rocks in there fish to win the money by one ounce's Hal loran Pluming fished with me today and we caught some big Klamath river toads. Look for more big fish coming soon the fishing should remain good into October its not to late to get in on the action. We have a few openings on the trinity in October in our drift boat for salmon and steelhead these are great trips on the lower river . Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is excellent on the Klamath river how many fish do you want to catch? The numbers are so high I don’t want to post them you can catch a fish on almost every drift with a few doubles and triples thrown in. My clients were tired of catching fish by 10:30 so we went on a tour of the Klamath up to Johnson's bar and we fished a few spots on the way back down. It has been Awesome the last few days there is a picture of my fish finder of one of the spots we fish it is about 10 feet across in the picture. The fishing should be good into October. Thanks Tim King

So many fish on the fish finder it just makes you want to cry!

Current Report:

The fishing just got better on the Klamath. The river has been getting lower every day and the fish are easier  to find and not so spread out. The bite started early today on our first drift we had a fish in the boat and the numbers kept  going higher all day we where way in to the double digits when the clients had decided to call it a day. Look for some big hogs to show up latter in month . Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Not much has changed on the Klamath, the Salmon are here and the guides are catching them. When the bite turns on you can see bent rods on most boats. It really is a blast to come and fish the Klamath and take part in the history of catching fish, something everyone should experience.  The weather is a little cold in the mornings but heats up by mid day. The fish should keep coming through October . We had 2 people in the boat today and we hooked 16 and landed 9, including a nice double. Thanks Tim King

We took a scheduled day off to visit with some friends and spend time with my family. The word from the other guides in camp is that the bite is still on for today. We will be on the Klamath river every day through the first weeks of October and then back on the Trinity for salmon and steelhead . We will start our trips on the Eel when the steelhead arrive and the low flows are lifted. Thanks Tim King

The fishing continues to be fantastic on the Klamath river the salmon are everywhere. We were in the double digits again but at the end of the day nobody could agree on the same number of fish we had landed and lost lets just say it was a great day of fishing. The weather was perfect reaching 73 degrees and the water temperature is great for the fish @ 64 degrees this morning .The fishing will be great in to October done miss out on this seasons Salmon run up the Klamath. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We had a great day on the Klamath, it started out in a pretty good rain storm right at the boat launch and with a 40 mile an hour jet boat ride up to the first spot every body was cold and wet that didn't have the proper rain gear. There was less pressure on the river today and soon the shivering stopped as everybody was landing fish. The bite even picked up a little in the afternoon as we settled in to hook a fish on all most every drift. I would like to thank the guys at RMC pacific for hosting the 2 days of fishing for there clients in the sand and gravel business they ended up hooking 20 fish and landing 14 of the them Gary was hot stick of the day with 6 fish landed. Please be prepared for changing weather conditions when planning your fishing trip Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We did better today we landed 14 salmon and 2 steelhead and lost 5 others 16 for 21 a great day for 3 anglers. The water level is dropping and the lower it goes it is pushing more of the fish into the holes. The water temperature was down to 66  this morning. We had 2 fish in the 30 plus pound range and the rest were 15 to 20 pounds. The fishing should still improve look for higher numbers in the coming days and in to October. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We just keep working hard to put my clients on fish . The river has a lot of fish in it but the bite is not red hot, we landed 10 fish today for 3 anglers all salmon in the 20 pound range. Yesterday was about the same we landed 6 salmon then went fly fishing for steelhead we had a few on but didn't land any. It really has been pretty good fishing who wouldn't want to land 10 chrome bright salmon in a day of fishing we do expect the fishing to get better and should remain good in to October. The water temperature is around 68 degrees and there is know sign of any dead fish in the river it was overcast today with a light rain. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is going good on the Klamath. We landed 7 today for 2 anglers and lost 4; yesterday we landed 14 for 4 anglers and lost 2. The fishing should improve to see even better numbers in the next few days or weeks. The fishing is usually good into October for salmon and steelhead. The fish have been averaging around 15 lbs with the occasional hog thrown in up to 30 lbs the steelhead are running between 4 and 8 lbs and a few half ponders mixed in . Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, September 02, 2003 at 19:20:00
Current Report:

Sorry for the delay in reports but the fishing has been nonstop with the new boat on the Klamath. The fishing is off to a good start our first day we boated 5 salmon and 2 steelhead most days we are landing between 7 to 10 fish and losing a few others. The conditions have been really crowded over the holidays there should be less boats on the river as the season heads in and as school starts for most families. the fishing should improve and the number of fish we catch should go up in the coming days.  We will be on the Klamath through October and then we'll be on the Trinity with the drift boat. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We will be picking up our new 22' Willie Raptor on Wednesday but I thought I would give all my faithful readers an early peak.  It's actually the first Raptor with an inboard Kodiak 350 and Hamilton jet.  This boat is completely loaded and as you all know when you fish with King's Guide Service you're fishing in-style.  Just like our drift boat this baby is loaded with every top of the line feature.  The gear is all first class with the likes of Loomis, Shimano, and Gamakatsu too!  Looking forward to seeing everyone on the river.    Thanks! Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity is starting to improve some of the early fall run fish are starting to arrive and there are a few steelhead around also. The Klamath river is set for another great year with the higher flows from the Trinity we should avoid another fish kill like we had last year. Here is the schedule for the flows out of the Trinity 8-24  1650   8-31  1400  9-8  1200  9-15  1000  9-16  450 The normally summer flow is 450 .We will be fishing back on the Klamath next week and fishing there through October 5th. We will back on the Trinity October 7th in our drift boat. The Trinity is usually red hot in October for salmon and steelhead we do have a few openings in the 3rd and 4th weeks. Western outdoor news and Fishing and Hunting news will be doing stories on the outstanding fishing on the Trinity in October. We will have some pictures of my new Willie Rapture jet boat on the web real soon  Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity continues to be slow.  The water level will be increasing in the next few weeks to 1650 cfs. and should help bring them in from the ocean and into the Klamath/Trinity system.  I have taken some time off fishing the Trinity waiting for my new Willie Raptor that I will be using on the Klamath this season.  While waiting I have been fishing with Wally Johnson of Seiad Valley Guide Service down on the Klamath.  Right now the fish are just starting to show and we averaged about 3 salmon and 3 steelhead a day up to 15lbs. and 10lbs. respectively.  Look for the fishing to continue to improve as we get further into the season....I would expect a banner year!    Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The first big push of fish usually happens in August on the Klamath to start the fall run. Right now there are a few fish being taken at the mouth and in the estuary. We saw some action just above the spit on the south side of the river there is a pretty good slot there and we saw a few fish taken on the out going tide. The fishing could break wide open at any time. The water temperature has been falling its down 6 degrees in the last 11 days at the Weitchpec monitoring station. The cooler temperatures are good news for the fish. The higher flows will be starting soon on the Trinity around the 16th of August they will start to release more water. The river should peak August 26th at 1650 cfs. The fishing should start to improve on the Trinity in late September and be in full swing during October. The start of the steelhead runs will be right behind the salmon in October. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is still slow on The Trinity. We did not fish today but a few of the boats that did stopped by to let me know how they did. Daily we provide you with an honest fishing report of what's really happening on the river.  On any given day we may be the hot boat and hook more fish than the other boats and then sometimes it's the other way around. We hate it when that happens, but that's why they call it fishing. The key is consistency and to do your best everyday and have the finest gear and the ability to make changes and adjust to the conditions of the rivers. Its also important to be able to fish the whole river the Trinity is almost a hundred miles of fishing paradise. If the fish are in the upper river or the lower river on the Indian reservation that's were you need to be.

I'm including on my report today an email that I received from one of my clients.  The email underscores the reason why I keep my reports current and accurate! Thanks Tim King

Thanks for the fishing reports you provide on your web site. Although I'm from Redding and fish the Trinity a fair amount, I have several friends in Southern CA that plan at least one trip a year to fish salmon. These guys don't get to fish much, so they look forward to checking your site to get a fix.  As you know many fishing reports are written up and exaggerated, based upon my experiences on the river, your reports always seem to accurately reflect what's going on. Not only that, your reports are current. We just missed the hot fishing the last trip we took (last week of July) but hope to have better timing next trip. If some of us choose to take a guided trip we'll definitely call you.

Thanks again!

We didn't do any better today we landed only one fish. It was about 12lbs and in a little better condition than most of the fish we have been seeing. The bite has been mostly on roe but plugs are your best bet until the first light hits the water. We had one nice pull down at about 6:00am this morning on a k15.We did see a few other fish landed but overall the fishing is still pretty slow. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Here is the latest news on the water releases from the Trinity. On August 15 they are going to start to open the gates and ramp the flows up. They should peak on August 26th at 1650 cfs they will be back to 1000cfs on September 15th then ramping back down to 450cfs after that. This is great news for the fish the water temperature should be lower in the Klamath and hopefully we can avoid another fish kill like last year. The fishing is still slow on the Trinity you can land a few but not in the numbers we like to see. The first sign of the fall run is starting to show on the Klamath the action at the mouth is just starting to show some signs of life it should break wide open soon. Thanks Tim King

Here's the straight scoop on the Trinity...right now fishing sucks. The fish that are here are dark and not worth keeping. They're still a lot of fun to catch and we are still getting a few per trip.  However, your time is better spent on a different river. We spent a couple of days over at the Klamath this week and we saw a few fish being caught at the mouth. In the next few weeks there will be thousands of fish starting to enter the river and start their runs up the Klamath and Trinity. We have a few days open for the Klamath in September and we are starting to fill up for October on the Trinity. You can catch Salmon and Steelhead during these two months. This is one of the best times to be out fishing on the rivers. The weather is usually good and the fishing is usually great. Most guides fill up well in advance for these months so don't wait till you see the reports that we are catching fish. It will be too late to book your trip. We will keep updating you with information in the coming weeks on some water issues and some methods for catching fish in our tip section. We will be out on the rivers and if the fishing picks up we will let you know. Thanks Tim King

We landed 4 fish today and missed one . Matt fished with me for two days the total was 7 fish in the boat and 4 lost. I think the fishing just might start to improve about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week we will have to wait and see if my hunch is correct. We are headed over to the Klamath for a couple of days to set up my camp for the coming fall run of salmon. We stay at Kamp Klamath a really nice place for rv's or tents there number is 707-482-0227 they have a web site also www.kampklamath.com talk to Aaron Funk he is the owner and will go out of his way to accommodate you with your plans to visit the Klamath area. We will be back on the river on Wednesday and we will update my report then.  Thanks Tim King

Just when we thought things were going bad we had a pretty decent day.  We landed 3 nice springers lost 3 after some nice battles and we had a couple of grabs that didn't hook up. The meat on the fish we caught today was in great shape we fillet them up for there barbecue. Hopefully the fishing will continue to be ok. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is slowing down we are having to spend more time at each place to try and get bit. There are not as many fresh fish moving in to replace the fish that are moving up or hanging out to spawn. I talked to some of the other respected guides in the area and they were all in agreement of the slow down.. We landed 2 fish today and lost 2 others one was in good shape and one was dark. I'm sure we will continue to catch a few fish everyday just not the numbers or the condition of fish that we like to see. Thanks Tim King

Here's the low down on the bite, it's on but the fish got off. We hooked 8 fish today and only one made it to the boat. I can't remember having that many fish spit the hook in one day......I guess some days the fish get to win. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The flows are back to there normal summer time rate off 450 cfs at Lewiston Dam. We landed 6 nice salmon today and lost 2 others. The bite and the fish are starting to change a little I think the fishing may be starting to slow down just a little bit we left at 4 am this morning to be the first boat on the river and it paid off for us. Some of the other boats were struggling today to get there limits and we had a couple of slow days this weekend we will have to wait and see if things continue to slow or the fishing could pick up as more fish move in from the lower river. Thanks Tim King

The fishing on the Trinity is going great. We did have a few days of some slower action. Today we hooked 9 fish and landed 5. Shawn hooked a nice 30lbs fish and got it to the boat all by herself. The water level is still dropping a little bit every day but it is not affecting the fishing. There are still more fish headed up as the action is still good at Burnt Ranch Falls on the lower Trinity. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The flows are down to 900 cfs and the bite is still on. We have continually caught fish as the flows have been dropping to the summer flow of 450 cfs. The fishing remains great we went 4 for 8 today and had a few other grabs that didn't hook up and we had one fish that went into the trees and finally broke off the leader and a few others that just spit the hook. The last fish of the day right at the take out was another big Trinity River brute it took us out of the hole and down to some soft water where we could land it. It was a great way to end the Day. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing continues to be great on the Trinity river. We got an early start on the river today to try and beat some of the weekend boat traffic but the bite didn't start until around 8 am. We had 2 nice fish in the boat by about 8:30 in the morning we ended up hooking 9 fish and landing 5. The fish are still coming as the report from the Burnt Ranch Falls area is that there are still tons of fish being seen heading up over the Falls. The fish are chrome bright and are fighting really hard. The bite continues to be good even with the big drop in water height as they lower the river down to its summer flow pattern. Thanks Tim King

We have been doing really well the last few days. Today was the first day of the lower flows they lowered the river 300 cfs over night. We landed 7 nice salmon today and lost 3.We again landed a 30 pounder after a hard battle and following it down river. We had to release in as we were already limited out. This is turning out to be one of the best spring runs in years if your not on the books for a fall run trip I suggest you call your favorite guide and get signed up there will be a lot of four year olds this year in the Klamath and Trinity river systems. The fishing should continue to be good. Thanks Tim King

The fishing is great on the Trinity the springers have made there way up the Klamath and into the Trinity. There are fresh pods of fish moving in every day. We have been getting any where from 3 to 5 fish landed with lots of take downs and misses I did have one trip this week were we landed 2 and another trip where we didn't land any we just missed the bite. The flows will be dropping soon and the fishing just might improve through July. I do have a few days left in July call or e mail me for the dates we also book other boats if you have to come on short notice. Thanks Tim King

The fishing continues to be good but it is not red hot. We have been getting fish on every trip except for one, hopefully the skunk has seen the last of my boat for the year. We were back on them today we even saw a bank angler land a nice one quite a feat in these higher flows. The fish we have been getting have been from 12 to 15 pounds the new regulations allow one adult and two jacks. There have not been to many jacks around but we have been getting our limits of adults. The flows start to drop on July 9th by 250 cfs a day until they reach 450 cfs. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is good on the Trinity for spring salmon. The fish are moving up every day with more fish following up behind them. The key is finding where they are at and being patient enough to wait them out. We have been catching fish on every trip out since last Sunday. The high water is making anchoring difficult at times from the boat shore anglers are not doing as well due to there limited access points. The flows will start to come down soon and I expect our scores to go higher. We have been catching a large number of adult steelhead for this time of year we have gotten at least one on every trip in the 4 to 6 pound range. The fishing should continue good into August. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Salmon have arrived!

The fishing has dramatically improved over the last few days. We had some slow times up till Friday. Then the word spread that the fish had moved in to Junction City. On Saturday Steve Townsend hooked 5 and boated one and had a lot more grabs. On Sunday me and Steve floated Junction City and we had our limits of adults by 10 am we only saw one other boat on the water and they were hooking fish to. These fish are chrome bright and full of fight you definitely will lose more than you can boat. The biggest on Sunday was a 22 pound buck caught on a kwickfish. The water level is still high making for some difficult circumstances when trying to anchor and land fish. The fishing should remain great now that they have arrived. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We fished the upper trinity today and didn't land any salmon we were fishing in the Lewiston area we did see one landed from the bank at the famous buck tail hole. We did land a few steelheads in the 3 to 4 pound range. The trinity restoration biologist has been out snorkeling the river and report that most of the fish are still below Junction City. Chris Risser emailed me that the fishing has been good below Burnt ranch and grays falls with some fish being taken in the 20 pound range. We have caught a few fish in the upper river in the last few weeks you just have to find a pod of fish that is moving through the best bite has been on roe. The Klamath is giving up some nice numbers of fish this is shaping up to be a really nice spring run the Klamath should continue to have fresh fish through July and the trinity through August. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Things are picking up on the Trinity. The fish are starting to show up all the way up to Lewiston. You can see the fish rolling in the holes in the early mornings and the evenings. The larger concentration of fish is still mostly down river below Junction City. The river level is still high and will remain so into July. The normal gear for springers has been working roe kwickfish and spinners the bite has been better in the early morning and the evenings. The fishing on the Klamath continues to be good in the lower river around Klamath glen. Spinners have been the best way to go over there. The upper Klamath below Iron Gate dam has been kicking out nice numbers of trout on flies and small plugs. Thanks Tim King

Things are starting to look more promising on the Trinity. The Indians on the lower river picked up some decent numbers in there nets on Monday. The report from Hawkins bar store is that there are some fish being caught at Burnt ranch falls and Grey falls. The fishing continues to be great on the Klamath side with most boats scoring decent numbers of fish. Look for things to pick up soon. Thanks Tim King

Well the fishing didn't improve today. We landed one out of two that we had on a pretty slow day. Look for things to start to improve soon. The weather has been perfect for fishing and the water color is good but the river will remain high through July 14th.The Indians are starting to get a few scores in there nets that is a good sign that the run is starting. Thanks Tim King

We went one for three today not a very good score. The fishing is still slow on the Trinity and along with the high water the conditions are pretty tough. We are looking for things to start improving soon the Klamath is having a good spring run and those fish should be arriving any day now on the Trinity. We will be on the water tomorrow in a different area to see if we can improve our scores. Thanks Tim King

The reports from the Klamath have been excellent. These fish will be heading up the Trinity and should be in the upper river by this weekend. This looks like the start of the spring run. These fish move really fast up the river they are on the move night and day. The best way to catch them is to get a good spot and wait for them to come by. We will keep you posted on the numbers of fish being caught and where they were caught. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity remains slow there are a few fish being caught on spinners or plugs. The water level is still really high so drift boaters be careful and bank anglers should use caution when wading. The fishing usually starts to pick up around the second week of June we will have to wait and see we they start to arrive in good numbers. If you just cant wait for that salmon fix try the lower river below the falls either Burnt ranch or Grays falls. It can be pretty hard to land fish there they usually take off like a scalded dog or a raped ape and don't come back' but it is worth a shot use heavy tackle so you can turn the fish out of the heavy current. We will let you know when things pick up. Thanks Tim King

The Long wait is over The Trinity River opened for Salmon season today.

The Water level is still very high and boaters should use caution when floating the river. We fished the upper river today and landed 2 salmon one jack and one small adult we saw a few other boats and they had not had a bite all day and the bank anglers were also doing poorly too. The fish are on there way here the reports have been good coming from the Klamath I would expect the fishing to improve in the next few weeks. The water levels will be dropping in July to more fishable levels. We will just have to wait a week and see if things improve. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

More water problems for the Trinity. We have received quite a bit of rain this year, enough to classify it as a wet water year. The Trinity river restoration group intend to use the extra water this spring to keep river flows in the 2500cfs range into July. This should really help the spring fish make it up river faster than in the previous years with the only problem being it makes fishing or should I say catching very difficult at the higher flows. We will be fishing as soon as the season opens so check back often to see how we are doing. There's a chance they might not continue the high flows into July so keep your fingers crossed.

On another note, We decided to stay with our good friends at Willie Boats and purchased a 22' center console Raptor with all the goodies!  You just can't beat a Willie Boat for service or craftsmanship, they are "Simply the Best"!  So, before it's too late you should start booking your salmon trips before all the dates are full.

Thanks Tim King

Rain and snow has been falling in northern California for the last week this is really helping to fill the lakes and to flush the juvenile salmon and steelhead out to the ocean. We took some time off to go striper fishing with some friends on the Sacramento River in the knights landing area we had a awesome day. We will be offering guided trips there next season. The Klamath is running really high at this time but should have some Springer's headed up it with all the fresh water coming down look for it to really get going around the middle of may. The Trinity will open to fishing the last Saturday in May if you haven't booked you spring run salmon trip yet now is a good time to get a date.

We were recently placed on the Pro staff of Boulton power boats.  We will be running one of there custom jet boats in the near future. We will continue to run a custom Willie boat on our drift boat trips they simply are the best. We are adding a new page to my web site you will just have to wait and see what it is all about. Here are some numbers of the salmon run from last year in the Klamath and Trinity River basin.

Hatchery spawned fish 29,510 natural spawning fish 69,535 total number of fish spawning last year 99,045. Total number of fish caught last year including Indians nets 35,533. Total number in the river run for 2002 169,297 total number of fish die off 32,553.

Hopefully that wont happen again. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Here is the latest news on the water issues on the Trinity and the Klamath and the river flow chart for this year. Judge Wanger had a change of heart and decided to give the fish some water imagine that. He has approved an additional 50,000 acre feet of water beyond the maximum annual flow he had established earlier for the Trinity. The water can be released between august 15th and September 15th if the full amount of water is released it will drop Trinity lake 3.5 feet. This will affect the fishing on the trinity depending on how high they take the flows but the fishing will be awesome when the flows stabilize and come back down the salmon really need the water. The flows on the Klamath are expected to be lower that last year when the fish kill occurred there is a lawsuit in U S district court in Oakland California on the Klamath river flows the hearing is April 29 and a ruling should be passed down after that. Judge Wanger also stated that if the Klamath law suit was successful that the 50,000 acre feet of water would not be used. There still a few more flow issues. The normal flow on the Trinity is 450 cfs till October 1 when they lower it to 300 cfs these flows are at the base of the dam and not True River flows as they don't account for the creeks flowing in also. The Hoopa Indians were able to get an additional 33,000 to 83,000 acre foot of water for the traditional boat dances on the lower Trinity. This water they have scheduled to release from august 14th through September 19th down the Trinity. I have no idea if they scheduled it this way to help the fish or if it is just a coincidence but this is the same time period when more water is need on the Klamath. So where does all this leave us, If the fisherman win there lawsuit on the Klamath and they release more water from iron gate judge Wagner then will not allow the water to flow from the Trinity but the Indians will so we could have water coming from both rivers to help the fish. Any way you look at it there will be more water flowing down the Trinity this year and maybe the Klamath too. It should be a great season. Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 018:00:00
Current Report:

Just a quick up date on some fish news. The Sacramento Municipal utility district has dropped out of the laws suit to get more water from the Trinity. They were one of the big players in the west lands law suit. They will be raising the river flows on the trinity in late April to around 6000 cfs this is to help the small smolts on there way to the ocean it simulates the normal run off that would be happening every spring. This is very important the year's that they haven't done this you can really see the results 3 years down the road on the lower return of salmon. The river flows this summer on the Trinity will be around 450cfs this is usually where they have kept them there is still some question as to whether they might let more water go down the Trinity to avoid another fish kill on the Klamath like we had last year. The federal government is buying water contracts from the farmers in the Klamath basin to try to send more water when it is needed they just don't have enough money to buy enough to make a difference. The ocean salmon fishing has been up and down depending on the weather in California. The Rouge River in Oregon is having one heck of a early spring run with the fish being bigger in size than normal. The Indians are picking up a few Springer's in there nets on the Trinity It should be a really good season. Thanks Tim King

Steelhead season is pretty much over on the Trinity the upper river is full of smolts just released from the Hatchery and the lower river will be blown out up until it closes March 31 your only bet for your last try will be the smith or the Eel if it comes back in around leggit late in the weekend. I just got back from the fish and game meeting and here are the proposed new regulations for the coming year. Hook size Maximum single hook size with a gap no greater than 5/8 inch and a multiple hook size gap off no greater than 1/2 inch. Daily bag limit of 1 adult and 2 jack salmon. 4 adults for any 7 day period. The fishing on the Sacramento River in Redding for trout is red hot. We are taking some time off for a couple of days I will start fishing the Sacramento at the begging of April and I will be updating my site on some of the other good fishing going on in the northern California area. Thanks Tim King

We fished the lower Trinity below Willow Creek today. It was just starting to rain when we launched the boat the river was already high and the visibility was pretty bad but we decided to go for it anyway. We tried bait plugs and plunked a few places but couldn't find any fish. It is raining pretty good now but the forecast looks good for the rest of the week. Thanks Tim King

The rain didn't amount to much and the upper Trinity is in good shape. All the fish we have been catching have been down runners. We will be heading down to the lower Trinity tomorrow to try and find some fresh fish. The water level is still a little high but it has greened up nicely. The weather picture looks pretty good through the rest of the steelhead season. We will be switching over to the Sacramento River in the Redding area fishing for the fat rainbow trout and some late run steelies when the Trinity closes March 31. Thanks Tim King

We fished in the Junction City area today and we landed 6 down runners. It started raining around 2:30 and has been pretty heavy at times we will have to wait and see if it keeps up and causes significant run off. This will slow the lower river from coming back in to shape. The forecast is calling for rain today and some showers overnight. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is in good shape down to the south fork by Willow creek. You can expect to catch 4 to 6 fish when drifting the upper sections of which most will be down runners. This is the time of year when the hatchery releases the smolts into the river and they usually hang out in the deep holes where they have some cover.  Obviously, you will want to avoid those areas while fishing especially if you're using roe. The Trinity below the south fork should be in by this weekend.  This will be your best bet to pick up some nice fish right up to the end of the season (March 31) if the weather remains decent and does not blow the river out. Thanks Tim King

The rain came in last night and the whole Trinity River is blown out. The only section that is fishable is below the Lewiston dam to rush creek. Ill let you know when things shape back up. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We fished the upper Trinity today, further up river from the drift we did yesterday in the Junction City area and had a good day. We landed 5 nice steelies and lost a few others. The upper river is full of down runners headed back to sea.  These fish are smaller but are full of fight and are aggressive biters. The lower river still has lots of fish going up the south fork of the Trinity but the weather has forced us to fish the upper sections.  It has been raining since about noon and we are supposed to get hit pretty hard tonight and tomorrow which will most likely blow out the upper river for a few days. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We decided to fish the upper Trinity in the Junction City area today the forecast was calling for heavy rain and the lower river had started to rise a little over the last few days from some rain showers. We landed 3 steelies that were all down runners the fish were all wild and put up a good fight. We didn't see another boat all day. The forecast is calling for more rain for the next few days we will be fishing up above were the water is fishable we will drop back to the Willow creek area as soon as we can. Thanks Tim King

Date: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 019:45:00
Current Report:

The lower Trinity has a little more color to it some of the creeks are putting in a little more water and the fishing is still hot. We landed 4 nice adults and a bunch of half pounders the day goes by really fast when your hooking fish. The upper Trinity is still low and clear. The weather forecast is calling for a significant storm later in the week we will have to wait and see if the lower river remains fishable after it passes through. If we don't get to much rain the fishing will remain good through March 31 when the season closes. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We had another fantastic day on the Trinity. We fished under a light rain most of the day but the temperature was in the 50 degree range. We landed 4 nice adult steelies the biggest was around 9lbs they were dropping scales in the boat chrome bright and full of fight fresh from the ocean. We also landed a ton of half pounders fish from one to three pounds, so many we lost count about half way through the day. The fishing will remain great right up to the close of the season. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The lower Trinity River continues to kick-out a bunch of steelhead and appears to be getting better as the month continues.  We landed 3 nice adults up to ten pounds and bunch of half pounders.  Right now the river has just a hint of color but is starting to clear with the lack of rain.  The upper river is gin clear and low making for tough fishing conditions.    Thanks Tim King

Date: Thursday, March 06, 2003 at 008:50:00
Current Report:

We fished the lower Trinity for the last couple of days.  On Wednesday we landed 4 or 5 half pounders and hooked one adult in the ten pound range.  On Tuesday we landed 4 half pounders and 2 adults one 6lbs and one 8lbs.  These fish were all chrome bright up-run fish, we did see a few down runners in some of the tail outs. The fishing should stay about the same through the rest of March, a mixture of half pounders and a few adults on each trip.  We are going to stay on the Trinity for the rest of the season. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The last few days we have been on the lower Trinity we went 3 for 5 on one day and 4 for 7 on the other. We didn't land any big fish in the high teens but we know they are there. The weather picture still looks good and the lower river has some good color to it about 6 feet of visibility the upper trinity is still low and clear. The Eel should be clearing down the main stem we haven't heard any reports from over there. We are scheduled to fish on the Eel Thursday through Monday we will report on how the fishing is from there. This is the time of year when we start to catch a few blue backs these are great fighting steelhead. There was quite a up roar over the proposed salmon regulations for the Klamath and Trinity now we here they may revise them, we will just have to wait and see. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

Sorry for the delay in my report, my computer was sick and needed a few days off to clear up a virus. The doctor says everything is ok now. The fishing on the Trinity is still great!  The upper river above Junction city has had scores of around 3 0r 4 fish per boat and the lower river below the south fork of the Trinity scores are much higher. We will be fishing down below until things change. The Eel was fishing pretty good on the lower south fork, if the weather holds we will be fishing there soon. March is a great time to fish for steelhead during this time you have the chance to catch some up river fish and some down runners.  The down runners are usually feeding like crazy on there way back to the ocean and a lot of fun to catch. The Klamath has been fishing good in the Somes bar area. The pressure has slowed down on most of the North coast rivers and we have had the river mostly to ourselves on the last few trips. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity has been tough the last few days. We have landed 4 fish and we lost a few others. The river is low and clear we could really use some rain to help things out. The Eel is clearing fast and boats have been getting around four to five fish per trip. The weather picture looks clear over the next few days we will be heading to a new area to try and improve our scores. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity remains excellent we hooked 12 fish and landed 9 of them. Most of the fish were fresh heading up to spawn and we had a few down runners also. We saw a few fish digging there beds to spawn. All the fish we caught today were wild fish. The Trinity is still low and clear. The South fork of the Eel is in and is fishable below Garberville. We will be fishing on the Trinity the next few days. The new Salmon proposed regulations are out looks like a few changes for the Klamath and Trinity River systems some new hook sizes and limits. One salmon over 22 inches and 2 under 22 inches Ill explain the hook sizes when they make them final Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is low and clear we had some really good fishermen on board today. We stayed off the fish and side drifted all the slots and tail outs we hooked 11 fish and boated 6. 3 of them were up river fish going up to spawn and 3 were down river fish heading back to the ocean all the fish were wild. We didn't hook any big fish today most were in the 4 to 5 pound range. We lost 5 fish that were probably up river fish. The weather picture looks good for the next few days and the fishing pressure is light we only saw one other boat all day the fishing should remain good through March right up to the close of the season. Thanks  Tim King

Current Report:

We have been fishing on the South fork of the Eel river for the last 2 days and the fishing is very slow. The river was a little high but the color was good.  It rained hard last night in Garbervile and the river blew out, it will take a few days for the South fork to become fishable and up to a week for the main to clear. We will be fishing the Trinity for the next few days. The river is in great shape down to the South fork by willow creek the lower river should be in soon.  We checked the Van Duzen and the Mad on our way home and they were both high and muddy. Thanks Tim King

The fishing on the Trinity is good the river is in good shape down to the south fork at Willow creek. The Eel is blown out but is dropping fast the upper sections above the east branch should be in shape in a couple of days. The fishing has been really good on the eel when the water is fishable. The Smith has been on the rise it really needed some rain to help out the fishing it should be good when it starts to drop. Thanks Tim King

Happy Valentines Day!  The fishing on the Trinity is good we had to fish hard but we landed 5 nice fish one German brown and 4 steelhead. There are reports of a ton of fish down around the willow creek area they will be moving up soon. We are headed over to the Eel River for the next few days if the rains come we will switch to the trinity on the lower river. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Eel is in high gear. The river is clear all the way to the ocean right now.  We struggled a bit on our first day but we were on the fish after that with most of the fish being ten'rs, that's fish in the ten pound class and up. There were some beautiful fish being landed including a 17 and 20 pound fish by Mike Moore and a double hook up of 10 and 12 pounders by Murray Wolf.  The fishing on the Eel will remain excellent throughout March and will be the place to be when the river is in shape. The Eel blows out really fast with just a small amount of rain and can take a while to clear back up so watch the weather before you come.  The Trinity is low and clear and full of steelhead the fishing has been a little slower the fish are really spooked very easy.  However, the river is in good shape all the way to the Klamath.  The Smith is low and clear also. We have some rain headed our way which will really help the fishing on the Trinity and the Smith but will probably blow out the Eel we will just have to wait and see.  I will be fishing the Trinity for the next few days. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We fished a tributary of the Trinity river today and we had the whole river to ourselves. We only landed 2 fish today but we missed quite a few bites. One was an up runner and one was a down runner both fish put up a really good fight. When fishing the tributaries all the fish are wild and must be released. We will be fishing the main river for the next few days. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing is picking up on all the North coast rivers. The weather pattern has shifted to the Northwest.  Some of the rivers are coming into prime shape for the first time this year since the low flow closers were lifted.  The South fork of the Eel is fishable down to the main and the Smith has really turned on and most guides are doing really well.  The Klamath is starting to look good also but no reports have been coming in there just are not that many people fishing it right now.  The California Salmon River is fishing good with boats landing around 6 fish a day.  The Mad is in good shape and the bankies are scoring some good numbers of fish.  The Trinity is in great shape also with guides landing up to 10 fish a day with mostly wild fish in the 8 to 10 pound range. We have been catching most of them on bait or small plugs.  It appears the weather pattern is going to hold and the bite will continue to be on . Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is in great shape the upper river is in perfect condition and the lower river is clearing down below the south fork. We landed 4 nice fish today and 1 German brown all the fish were wild hens. The Eel is clearing down to the forks and should start to kick out some quality fish in the coming week. The Smith is also in great shape. There is no rain forecast for the next 10 days this should be a great week to be out steelhead fishing.  Thanks Tim King

Date: Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 20:48:00
Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity has remained pretty constant all season on our best days we have been in the double digits and our slower days 4 or 5 fish we have had a few days of one or two fish and only 2 skunks in the boat all year.  We landed 6 nice steelhead today it was a mix of wild and hatchery fish the biggest was about 8 lbs The Eel was a little slow when we were there the last few days we were fishing pretty high up the south fork this river should be taking off soon and the fish counts should go up. These are some of the hardest fighting fish in California and we primarily drift bait for them. The weather picture looks great for the coming week and the eel will be clearing down to the main this will open up a lot more area to fish and give the guides a better chance to land more fish . I will be on the Trinity the next few days.  Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We fished the Eel for the last two days and the fishing has been a little slow.  Today we managed to boat one fish in the 12LB range and saw one other fish landed in another boat.  If the weather holds the  Eel should clear from Benbow down towards Garberville.  However, if the storm hits the river will blow out quickly.  We will be fishing the Trinity for the next several days and will update you on our success shortly.  Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is in perfect shape the flows have come down a bit, right where we like to see them for good Steelhead fishing. We have been fishing the last couple of days in a location I don't want to disclose and the fishing has been great. The South fork of the Trinity is starting to clear up the lower river below Willow creek may finally become fishable if the weather pattern holds. They are calling for a little rain on Thursday. The Smith is at 12 feet and dropping perfect for steelhead fishing most guides have been doing pretty well when the river is at this level. They are forecast for rain on Thursday and Friday .The Klamath is high and the flows out of the Scott river are making the water have a little to much color for good fishing .The Mad is coming into shape and some of the bankies are reporting good numbers of fish being caught. The Eel is fishable above the East branch at Benbow, a little high but is dropping fast so we will be fishing there tomorrow.  The forecast is calling for light showers on Thursday if the rain holds off it will start clearing down the South fork through the end of the week. The Trinity or the Eel will be your best bet as the Smith will probably blow out Thursday and Friday. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is a little high but is still fishing good. The Klamath is blown out below the Scott River but is fishing good up above. The Smith is dropping in to shape we will have to wait and see how much more rain falls tonight to see if it goes out. The Eel is blown out all over. The Mad and Redwood creek are out also. Your best bet for Steelhead is the Trinity or the Smith. The weather still looks good for the coming week with just showers in the forecast no major storms in sight. If the forecast is right? The South fork of the Eel could be in by Tuesday or Wednesday the Smith and the Trinity will be in prime shape and the bite should be on. Thanks Tim King

The Trinity is in great shape down to the south fork in willow creek .The south fork is starting to green up a little bit hopefully we will be able to fish down in the Hoopa Valley soon. There are fresh fish moving up we got some good reports while we fishing on the eel and the Klamath the pass few days. We will be on the Trinity tomorrow. The South fork of the Eel is coming back in to shape if they don't get to much rain it will be in prime shape tomorrow it is still blown out below Benbow at the east branch We fished the Klamath today in the Happy camp area the river is high and has a bit to much color to fish very good we did manage to put a few fish in the boat. The Klamath looked a little clearer down by Somes Bar but is still very high. The Salmon river looked great. I spoke to 3 people at the take out and they said they had landed 6 nice fish. The Mad looked great on our way back from the Eel the bankies should be doing well. The Smith has had some good days this week with most of the guides having some pretty good success. Rain has been falling most of the day but the weather picture looks pretty good for the rest of the week with no major storms expected just some light showers. Thanks Tim King

Today on the South fork of the Eel we boated 6 fish of which 2 were in the 12LB. class.  These fish were nothing short of spectacular burning the line off the reels and jumping repeatedly.  The river right now is climbing but the rain has stopped and we are hoping to possibly fish it Friday.  Thanks Tim King

We fished the South fork of the Eel today and went 2 for 4.  The water color and level of the river is in great shape. However, we're unsure how tonight's rain is going to affect the river.  If the river remains in shape we will be fishing it the rest of the week.  If not we will be fishing the Smith if it's not blown out.  Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The fishing on the Trinity has slowed we had our first skunk of the season on Friday fishing in Junction City. On Saturday we moved up river and found heavy boat pressure we did land 3 fish the biggest being a really nice 9 lbs wild buck. The other boats had low numbers also. We will be heading down to the lower river tomorrow to try and improve out scores. The Smith is starting to kick out a few decent numbers of fish with most guides landing up to 3 fish and hooking a few more there have been reports of 3 fish weighed in over 20 lbs this week. We will be fishing on the South fork of the Eel on Monday the river is finally dropping in to shape. The Mad is still high and muddy. The weather forecast still looks good the fishing should improve on all the rivers through the week. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is in great shape in the Douglas city area there is still a little to much color by Junction city about a foot and a half of visibility. The fishing remains excellent and the flows should be dropping slowly over the next few days. The smith is in Prime shape and the numbers of fish being caught are starting to climb. The Mad is fishing well for bankies using the Mad river special yarn and beads. The Eel is starting to shape up on the south fork hopefully it will clear all the way to the main over the next week. The Klamath is full of fish
from the Salmon all the way up to the I 5 bridge. The water level is still a little high the farther up you go the better. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity and Smith are back in shape all other North Coast Rivers are still too high and muddy to fish. The Trinity is a good green above Douglas city and should be fishable to the south fork by willow creek in 2 days. The fishing has been excellent on the Trinity with big numbers of fish being caught. The Smith was off to a slow start this year but things have been improving. The weather picture looks great for the next 10 days they are not even showing a chance of rain for this period. We will be fishing on the Eel next week and the Mad may finally clear up enough to run a plug down it. This would be a great time to get out and fish your favorite river. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The North Coast Rivers have been on the rise .The Trinity (see picture below), Eel Mad and the Klamath are all blown out the smith looks like it will stay fishable. Its hard to catch fish on a rising river as soon as the Smith starts to drop the bite will be on. The weather forecast looks good for the coming week. The Trinity should be back in to shape in a couple of days. We were doing great before this latest storm moved in and things should be great as soon as it drops in to shape. We fly fished on Sunday with about 2 to 3 feet of visibility and where able to land one nice fish in the boat. The weather has warmed up a bit so the fish will be more active. We will keep you posted as soon as the rivers clear. Thanks Tim King

The fishing on the Trinity is red hot. We have been landing some really nice fish this week .We put a 12lber in the boat today it battled us long and hard for 20 minutes making runs up and down the river. We have been landing from 5 to 10 fish per trip and losing around 5 more. The Smith is starting to come around with boats landing up to 4 or 5 fish per trip the numbers should only get better later in the month .The Eel is starting to fall into shape we will have to wait and see how much rain falls in the next few days. The Mad is fishable with bankies reporting good numbers of fish being caught. Thanks Tim King

Wow we had a awesome day on the water. The Trinity is in perfect fishing conditions. We put 10 nice steelhead in the boat and lost a couple of others. All the fish we caught today were wild and released back in to the river. The bite is on. We caught all the fish on roe or bugs {glow bugs are imitation eggs tied with yarn} .The plug bite is a little slow. The fly fishing is in full swing also lots of fish being caught on egg patterns and golden stones and bring along some black rubber legs too. Thanks Tim King

The Trinity River is in excellent shape. The lower portion from the South Fork down is still blown out. The upper river is an emerald green perfect for drifting bait. The last few days have been a little bit tough we have been landing about 3 or 4 fish per trip up to about 10 lbs. The weather has been really cold and the bite comes on later in the afternoon. The Smith is in great shape but the fishing is still a little slow till more fish move in to the system. The Mad is coming in to shape and the Eel should be in if the weather holds up .Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

The Trinity is in prime shape and the fishing is excellent. We landed 6 fish up to 10 lbs today fishing in the Junction City area. The weather looks good for the coming week fishing should remain excellent. The Smith river flows have been up and down the last few days. I talked to Kevin at mad river outfitters and he reported that the fishing is poor. They fished on Saturday and were not able to hook any fish. Most of the guides are reporting low numbers or no fish caught over the weekend. Things should improve soon. The Eel and Mad are still high and muddy they should drop in to shape soon with the favorable weather conditions this week. Redwood creek will be a good bet for bankies this week as the flows are dropping there also. The Salmon River a tributary of the Klamath was on fire these last few days with boats landing up to 10 fish .It should be a great week to go fishing. Thanks Tim King

Current Report:

We have been fishing the Smith River the last couple of days. The river was a little high for optimum fishing. We did manage to put a few in the boat but not many fish were being caught. The Smith will be in great shape in a few more days if there is no more rain. The Trinity is in great shape from Lewiston all the way down to the south fork by Willow Creek were it is still blown out. The Mad and the Eel are blown way out and it will be a while before these rivers are fishable. We will be fishing the on the Trinity the next few days and the Smith later in the week. We will keep you up to date on the latest information. Thanks Tim King
