Gary's Guide Service is based in Douglas City, CA, Smith River, CA and Klamath Glen, CA.  In all three locations we are located right on the banks of the given river allowing us to stay right on top of the action as it happens.  I have been fishing the Klamath, Umpqua, and Deschutes rivers since before I could drive.  Since those first experiences with summer run steelhead on a fly I have become completely consumed by these fish.  I've caught steelhead on nearly thirty different rivers from California, Oregon, and the holy grail, B.C.  This year I look forward to adding some Olympic Peninsula Rivers to the list when I visit for my first time in March.

I started college at College of the Redwoods in Eureka in January '99 so that I could study my favorite fish and find all of the places that they live.  My college schedule allowed for me to spend well over a hundred days fishing these rivers every year which really tuned me into the all the tricks of fishing these rivers.  I ended up graduating from Humboldt State University with a degree in Recreation Administration in May '05.  By this time I had already fully dove head first into the guide industry.  The following year around the same time I got my six pack license from the Coast Guard.  Since then I've been guiding full time and it has been a great experience.
